Safety Guide
At ShaadiProfile, your safety is important to us. Matrimonial connections begin online but involve real people and significant life decisions. This guide provides practical tips to help you stay safe while using our platform.
This guide is educational. It does not replace your own judgement or the advice of people you trust. If you are in immediate danger, contact emergency services — do not rely on this platform for emergency assistance.
1. Protecting Your Money
- Never send money to someone you have only met online. Romance and matrimonial fraud is real. Fraudsters build trust over weeks or months before requesting money for an emergency, visa, medical bill, or travel costs.
- Do not send gift cards, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, or any other form of payment to another member, regardless of their explanation.
- Be suspicious of anyone who expresses strong romantic or matrimonial interest very quickly and then asks for financial help.
- Report any user who asks you for money using the “Report” button on their profile.
2. Protecting Your Personal Information
- Never share your passwords, OTPs, banking PINs, or financial account numbers with anyone on this platform.
- Be cautious about sharing your home address, workplace, or daily routine early in a connection.
- Do not share Aadhaar numbers, passport numbers, or other identity document details through chat messages — these are not required for matrimonial introductions.
- If another user asks for copies of your identity documents before any meeting has taken place, treat this as a warning sign and report the profile.
3. Verifying Information
ShaadiProfile provides trust signals such as identity checks and photo moderation to help members make more informed decisions. However, we do not independently verify all information that users provide about themselves.
- Before making any major personal decision — such as an engagement or marriage — independently verify important details including employment, family background, educational qualifications, and marital history.
- Consider requesting references from common family or community contacts.
- Background verification services are available in India if you wish to conduct more formal checks. This is a personal decision and not a requirement of the platform.
4. Meeting in Person
- For a first meeting, always choose a public place such as a café, restaurant, or community space.
- Let a trusted friend or family member know where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be back.
- Arrange your own transport to and from the meeting — do not rely on the other person to take you home.
- Do not feel pressured to meet before you are comfortable. Take your time.
- If at any point you feel unsafe, leave immediately and report the profile.
5. Recognising Warning Signs
Be alert to behaviour that may indicate a fake profile or bad intentions:
- Very rapid expressions of love or commitment within a short time of connecting.
- Profile photos that look like professional model shots or are taken from social media.
- Reluctance to video call or meet in person despite a long online conversation.
- Inconsistent or vague personal details that change over time.
- Any request for money, gift cards, or financial help — at any stage.
- Requests to move the conversation off the platform immediately.
- Pressure to make quick decisions about engagement or marriage.
6. Reporting & Blocking
You can report any profile or message that makes you uncomfortable or that you believe violates our Community Guidelines:
- Open the profile page and tap “Report this profile” at the bottom of the page.
- Select the reason that best describes the issue and add any relevant details.
- Our moderation team reviews reports as part of a regular review process.
You can also block a user from their profile page. Blocked users cannot see your profile, send you interests, or message you.
For urgent concerns or if you cannot resolve an issue through the Report button, contact our Safety team at shaadiprofiles@outlook.com.
7. Emergency Situations
If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services:
- Police (India): 100
- Women’s Helpline (India): 1091
- Emergency: 112 (all-in-one emergency number, India)
Do not rely on this platform for emergency assistance. We are a matrimonial discovery service, not an emergency response system.
8. Contact Our Safety Team
For non-emergency safety concerns, reports, or questions, reach us at shaadiprofiles@outlook.com. We aim to respond within 2 business days.
